FTP Transfer Services
As a complimentary service, Skyline allows clients to provide files to us via electronic file transfer utilizing our FTP server. Utilizing this service allows us to receive production files quickly and allows us to expedite projects in a timely manner when lead times are tight. File sizes are limited to 100 megabytes. Please follow the instructions provided on this page if you plan on providing us with files for your project.
You will have upload rights to the “pub” folder only.
If you are using a Mac running OSX, we prefer that you compress your project files with the “Create Archive” function of OSX, found under the “File” menu. This creates a special .zip file that will preserve all the unique portions of a Mac file. You may also use .sit files, but we have experienced some problems with these types of files in the past.
If using a Windows based PC, you should “zip” your files. Compress all the files of your project into one single file. Please keep the maximum upload size to around 300MB after compression. Larger jobs should be provided on CD or DVD. Make sure to name your upload file with the proper company name. You should only use letters, numbers, and periods in your file name.
After your file upload has completed, please let your Skyline Sales Rep know your file has uploaded completely to the “pub” folder and tell them the exact file name you used.
Windows PC users, type this address into Internet Explorer with no spaces:
ftp://ftp.skyline.com/pub/
Other web browsers such as Firefox will not work for FTP uploading.
Notice the “ftp://” at the front of the URL name which is used instead of the typical “http://”
A login window will appear, enter:
User Name: skyline2010
Password: displays2010
After establishing a connection, you should see many files and folders. Drag your upload file into a blank area of this window, among the other files and folders. If you are only seeing several folders, including a folder called ‘pub’ then you need to double click into the ‘pub’ folder before uploading.
Macintosh users: You must be using an FTP client, not a web browser to access our FTP server. For Mac’s running OS9 and earlier we recommend using Fetch software.
To download a free copy of the Fetch software, click the link below:
ftp://skyline:displays@ftp.skyline.com/pub/Fetch.sit
For Mac’s running OSX, we recommend RBrowser, used in free “FTP Only” mode: http://www.rbrowser.com
Once you have an FTP Client installed on your Mac, use the following log-in information:
Protocol: FTP (Not Public FTP) Port: (Leave Blank) These two options are specific to RBrowser software only.
Host: ftp.skyline.com
Username/UserID: skyline2010 (all lowercase letters)
Password: displays2010 (all lowercase letters)
Path/Directory: pub
If you are only seeing several folders, including a folder called ‘pub’ then you need to double click into the ‘pub’ folder before uploading. If you are having difficulties after following the included instructions carefully, please contact your local Skyline or John Gettler at our corporate Minnesota location at 651-234-3244 for technical assistance.
